Feeling disenfranchised today

OK, as promised, a post about my night touring of the Dubai desert will be forthcoming very soon, but in the meantime, just a quick little post to tell everyone in the US to GO OUT AND VOTE!!!  And if (like me) you are ever going to find yourself out of the country on election day, think ahead (unlike me) and get your absentee ballot application in before the deadline!!  For the last few days, I’ve been trying to figure out if there’s any way for me to be able to vote today, and so far, no luck.  Apparently my county’s deadline for absentee ballot applications (for registered voters) was October 26th……  I’m feeling very guilty, and will feel even more guilty if the race in my district winds up being a close one.  Don’t take your right to vote for granted and use it!  I wish I could use mine today!  I didn’t give enough thought to it in the hustle and bustle of my move, and now I really regret that.

Oh, and if you don’t vote (but are able to do so), you lose any right to complain to me about what’s going on in whatever country you failed to vote in! 🙂

That’s my civics lesson for today.  Will resume my travel stories very soon!

Democratically yours,
the travelling chitalian
